Complementary / Integrative Medicine


 

Pain Care Boise (PCB) practices what is referred to as “Integrative Medicine.” Integrative Medicine is a combination of conventional medicine as well as utilizing Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). At PCB, we offer several Complementary Therapies as listed below. A National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) indicated that nearly 40% of Americans use Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). The National Center for CAM (NCCAM) indicates “defining CAM is difficult, because the field is very broad and constantly changing.” The categories are “not formally defined.” “The boundaries between CAM and conventional medicine are not absolute, and specific CAM practices may, over time, become widely accepted.” NCAAM does fund research on CAM and the treatments often become main stream with some treatments even being covered by insurance companies.
